Day 1 : same as the general program.
We will pick you up in Chiang Mai at your guesthouse between 8:00- 8:30 ,
Visit a local market in Mae Malai, learning about different local
fruits and vegetables in the area. You can practice your Thai or learn
them in English as well
After arriving at the elephant home, you will change into
traditional northern style clothes and we will go to pay respect to
Ganesh, the Elephant Buddha
You will meet the elephants and practice using commands to ride and control the elephants. (e.g., get on, get off)
Take your elephants for a ride around the forest look for herbs and food.
Have lunch in the forest: A unique mahout special of sticky
rice cooked in bamboo, fried rice in banana leaves and soup. All
leftovers can go to the elephant so nothing is wasted, and no trash is
left behind!
Visit the natural black mud spa to play in the mud with the
elephants. This mud is very good for your skin and the elephants so
enjoy it while you can!
After getting muddy, you and your elephant will need a bath in the river. Clean your elephant and have fun swimming!
Day 2 to 30 :A more intense and
involved experience about the life of mahouts and elephants at the camp.
Learn all about elephant life, mahouts, people in the village,
including learning about and partaking in ceremonies, traditions and the
religion of the people. Most of your time will be spent interacting
with the elephants by feeding, riding, cleaning and training them.
You will see first hand what makes our elephant camp different than
the rest: a commitment to caring for elephants and the local
environment. Plant trees, ride elephants, and most importantly, have
fun!
